YOGA FOR BEGINNERS – Ashtanga Vinyasa Basics

PICT6189.JPG Yoga has become a very popular way of exercise. With many classes, styles and instructors, it is sometimes difficult to make up our mind how and where to start the practice.

In the 2 hour workshop there will be a brief introduction of different aspects of yoga and the benefits it offers.

We will explore the connection of breath and movement in the Sun Salutation A. This sequence of 9 asanas can on its own be your daily practice. Practising sun salutations regularly keeps the body strong and flexible.

We will continue with 8-10 more postures which make a short version of stable asana practice. The focus will be on safety, easier options and breath. With notes about the benefits of the postures.

Breath plays important role in our health. When the breath flows freely, our body and mind can function well. When the breath is restricted, we are tensed. By paying attention to our breathing we can explore the connection between our body, breath and mind.

To connect to oneself it is necessary to find time for relaxation. Savasana, the most common relaxation pose is an essential part of a complete yoga class.
